If you happen to be in the market for a 40-inch flat screen TV, or any other TV for that matter, you need to know where to discover the best LCD TV deals. Let's face it, the number of TVs that are available may be mind boggling. We can help.

You will find reviews of every flat screen TV. These reviews are from real customers. Getting reviews from real customers will let you see what the benefits and disadvantages of each Television are. With so many models and options to choose from, it's essential to know both the pros as well as the cons about each TV.

Knowing which model that you want to purchase is just half the battle. You then need to determine where to buy your new TV from. After all, where you buy your TV could be just as important as which model you buy. Although the odds are unlikely, it is possible that there will be a probem with your Television, or for whatever reason, you might not choose to keep it. You need the assurance that you are going to be able to return the TV and get a full refund or to get store credit for a replacement.

Through our affiliation with Amazon, you're going to get thorough analysis of each television set, testimonials from actual purchasers of the TV, you'll have the confidence that you are obtaining one of the best LCD TV deals available anywhere, and maybe most importantly, you'll know that you will be dealing with a trusted merchant.

If you are looking for flat screen TVs for sale, you have come to the right place. Through our affiliation with Amazon, you can find all of the best selling flat screen televisions at some of the lowest prices anywhere -- on the internet, at big name chain stores, or at local retailers.

Here are but a few examples of the great deals that you can find. If you are looking for a TV for a large room, then you should be looking for a larger sized, flat screen TV. Most people consider the Sony and Samsung models to be superior to all other flat screen TVs for sale today. Among those, a great option would be the Sony Bravia.

The Sony has a 52-inch 1080p LCD HDTV.This is an excellent television.

Click here to read the reviews

Obviously, the most important aspect of any television is its picture quality. This Sony model puts out an image quality that compares favorably against most any other television, in its size or others. One nice improvement that this TV has made is that it offers a new 120hz screen refresh. This eliminates the ghosting effect that some people used to complain about. It is extremely lightweight, allowing two people to easily move it around if needed.

Description

Over the years XBR has stood for the best consumer TVs Sony has to offer and this year's line up is no exception. The XBR line of Full HD 1080p televisions incorporate all of Sony's latest technologies (including HDMI v1.3 features such as x.v.Color and Deep Color). Additional features like Motionflow(TM) 120Hz enable smoother motion when viewing movies or fast-action sports. BRAVIA Engine PRO with Digital Reality Creation upconverts all interlaced and progressive video signals including HD signals directly to 1080p for amazing detail and sharpness. And it's only fitting that your XBR make a statement not only through breathtaking picture quality, but by taking your breath away with optional color bezels. Now your LCD TV can be as distinct as your own personal style.

Amazon.com Product Description .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -15px; } The Sony BRAVIA XBR KDL-52XBR4 52-inch 1080p LCD Flat Panel HDTV continues Sony's tradition of making outstanding televisions, and with a 52-inch screen, you'll be the envy of all your neighbors. Sony does not hold back with any technologies, and the XBR series is its flagship line--so with the XBR, you know you'll get the best quality home theater experience available. The KDL-52XBR4 has vibrant colors and a 178-degree viewing angle. View larger. View product demo (requires Flash). The XBR series delivers beautful visuals while incorporating all of Sony's latest technologies. View more details. Top-Notch Video Performance The XBR KDL-52XBR4 is a 1080p television with a full 1920 x 1080 resolution, the highest resolution available for the sharpest, clearest picture. The KDL-52XBR uses the most recent HDMI 1.3 interface, which houses both audio and video signals in one connector and has the bandwidth to support the data needed for the high resolution. Sony's Bravia Engine Pro Full Digital Video Processor upconverts all video signals to 1080p so you can watch all your old DVDs on this glorious display. Sony complements the high resolution with the latest technology in color reproduction. The KDL-52XBR is a 10-bit display with 10-bit processing. Most panels are only 8-bit. The added bit depth here means a larger color palette for more faithful color reproduction and smoother transitions from one color to the next. Additionally, the display also supports the new x.v.Color standard, which dramatically increases the available color space. The end result is a picture that is so detailed, colorful, and vibrant, you'd have a hard time distinguishing it from real life. The KDL-52XBR4 features Sony's Motionflow technology, which automatically adjusts for and applies the proper processing for optimal motion reproduction depending on the video input. This includes support for 24 frames per second (24p) video, which displays video content at the 24-frames-per-second rate at which it was originally filmed or recorded. With 24p, you get the most faithful possible reproduction of the original. A Wide Variety of Inputs This Sony television's wide variety of inputs ensures compatibility with your other home theater components. There are three HDMI connections for Blu-Ray, HD DVD, and other technologies requiring the high bandwidth, and two component video inputs, three composite video inputs, one S-Video input, one PC Audio and Video input, and five analog audio inputs. Even with a collection of legacy components, you shouldn't have a problem connecting to the KDL-52XBR4. Stunning Looks The KDL-52XBR4 not only displays stunning video but is itself a head-turner. It features Sony's unique floating glass frame along with a black bezel that can be interchanged with optional color bezels to match the display to your decor. Outstanding Ergonomics and Simplicity of Control Sony's Xross Media Bar interface is an award-winning, intuitive on-screen display that makes setup a breeze, with menus and controls logically laid out for quick access. The KDL-52XBR4 also features Theatre Sync technology, based on the HDMI-CEC standard, which means you can easily connect to and control compatible devices. For example, when the KDL-52XBR4 is connected to a compatible DVD player, you can turn on both the DVD player and the television and start playing a DVD with a single push of a button on the remote. When you're done, another push of a button powers everything down. With Theatre Sync, you can spend time enjoying the movie rather than waste time setting everything up. More Than Just a Television Because more and more people expect to view photos on their HDTVs, Sony developed a Photo TV HD mode that optimally sets the sharpness, gradation, and color to make digital photos look like printed photography. The KDL-52XBR4 is backed by a 1-year limited warranty for parts and labor. Full HD Quality HDTV provides up to six times the visual detail of the Standard Definition television. You need an HDTV set, HD sound and a source of HD content to make sure you're really getting HD. One-step Simplicity It's easy to setup your HDTV system. A single HDMI cable carries both audio and video signals, while it also banishes confusing setup and cord tangles. You're Surrounded HD broadcasting can include up to 7.1 channels of surround sound. A Sony HD Audio system lets you experience every whisper. Ready for Primetime You've got the set, now get the shows. HD sports, comedies, dramas, movies and more are available on Broadcast, Cable and Satellite TV.
2 years old and picture problems...
by Gary R. Mazet from NJ USA on 2009-12-02
Initially, I was impressed with this set, especially when being driven by high quality content (Blu-Ray, video games at 1080p, etc). Was less impressed with some of the broadcast HD - seemed to show a lot of artifacts at times, esp during football games.. I partially blame the quality of the broadcast, but also has something to do with TV's ability to process signal.

What I really find disappointing is that after only 2 years, the TV has a major problem when warming up. For upwards of 10 minutes on startup, the screen appears distorted, almost ghosted on the left side. eventually the picture clears up and looks normal but this should not be happening. Of course, out of warranty.. My old RCA CRT lasted 11 years before problems...

Poor quality, Sony..

Just bought another TV for downstairs. Did I buy a Sony? - nope. Panasonic plasma!

Excellent 'No Glare' in Window Filled Room

This TV is now over a year old and we love it as much as the day we pulled it out of the box. We had tried a 58" Samsung plazma that was beautiful, but our bank of west facing windows in bright 300+ Colorado sunny days simply did not agree with the mirror like reflective glass of plazma. I really wanted that 58" to work and have been accused of being a Sony guy opposed to a 'Sammy ?' guy. I didn't know there were those kind of people out there. This 52" Sony handles the sunny bright Colorado bank of windows incredibly well 'with absolutely no glare'...ever. Full curtains drawn or not. I would have never believed it! While I wouldn't think twice about a plazma for a 'darker' room with low light and no glare, to get those super deep blacks, this TV is breath taking, and grabs our attention with it's outstanding HD pictures. And no, I'm not a Sony guy opposed to a "Sammy" guy, whatever that is supposed to mean.

After 9 months the blacks have sever bleeding. Artifacting. Sony does nothing for warranty.

by Tech Test Pilot from on 2009-01-17
I've owned this 52 inch LCD tv Since May 2008 from an authorized Sony dealer. Its initial quality was nothing less than spectacular. Deep blacks. No bleeding. Exceptional clarity. Breathtaking colors. It was registered for warranty the same day online with Sony's website.

Over the last three weeks, I noticed SEVERE bleeding of the blacks during any tv or movie and when it's a blank screen. I've seen an odd double blur around actors and objects (artifacting?). It does Not leave a trail like ghosting. I've tried switching all of my video/audio equipment without success.

I called Sony to come out to repair. They blew me off for three weeks. After getting tired of my 3 times a day calling, they sent a guy out. He said YES my problems were legitimate... BUT IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! I am extremely upset at Sony and their business practice. A friend of mine has the 42" version and is beginning to show the same faults. He bought a third party warranty and got his tv repaired. Is this the beginning of SONY's fall from grace? Check their tanking stock price and see how much money they lost for fiscal year 2008.

Nearly perfect

by J. D. from Boston, MA on 2008-12-20
Like other Sony products I have ever had (plasma TV, camcorders, cameras, laptops, etc.), this is no doubt another great one. I bought it earlier this year and everyone in my family just love it. No complaints. But it would be perfect if the P&P function could work just like my old Sony TV which allows me to watch two different TV channels at the same time instead of one TV channel and the video. Nothing's perfect, though.

Another TV that you may want to consider is a Samsung. As an example, here is the 46-inch Samsung. The image quality on the television is remarkably clear and concise. If you have several input devices that you want to plug into your television, you will be happy to know that this TV comes with 4 HDMI inputs. The TV also has an ethernet port, so you could easily connect it to the internet. The blacks on this TV are incredible. Some people feel that the remote is a bit odd, but you could alwasy swap it out for a universal remote.

The Samsung 47-inch 1080 LCD HDTV is another excellent flat screen TV.

Super Clear Panel Samsung enhances the clarity of select LCD HDTVs by replacing the light-diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a natural black panel with a clear anti-glare shield. Reduced reflection of external light creates a new dimension in image clarity, highlighting black and darkened areas, enabling vibrant, more compelling colors and a brighter, clearer picture. Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes. The latest version of Samsung’s breakthrough super clear panel technology makes colors appear more vibrant and blacks even deeper than ever. Enhanced films reduce glare and optimize off-angle viewing. 50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio/500 nit Brightness 50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a picture better than you ever thought possible, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung’s new LCD TV’s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever. Full HD 1080P Full HD, or 1080p, contains 1.5 times more scanning lines than conventional HD TVs. More scanning lines mean more pixels, more details and a better picture. The new Samsung LCD TV with resolution that is approximately 2 times greater than conventional HDTVs, creating the most perfect picture imaginable. Samsung’s 1080p panel uses a new high-speed liquid crystal to cut response time to 4ms. The fast response time, coupled with Samsung’s Auto Motion Plus 120Hz motion blur reduction technology dramatically reduces motion blur and judder. Digital Natural Image Engine DNIe™ The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine. This exclusive Samsung technology dramatically improves the picture by enhancing the contrast, detail, white balance and reduces. Wide Color Enhancer/Cold Cathode Flourescent Lamp The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors. Samsung’s exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. The system displays wider color reproduction, showing you truer colors – the fresh green of spring foliage, the intense blue of the summer sky. Connectivity To make the Series 6 a true entertainment hub for any home, Samsung has incorporated advanced HD connectivity and networking capabilities that expand the HDTV’s functionality. A wide variety of multimedia devices can be connected to the set through any one of the four Simplay compliant HDMI 1.3 inputs (including one on the side), and the handy HDMICEC feature lets you control all your CEC-enabled peripherals using just one remote. Connect HD digital devices like disc players, game consoles, and satellite dish components into the 2 rear connections and use the side-mounted input for cameras, camcorders, and laptops. HDMI is the best performing interface for displaying an HD source on an HDTV. Once connected, users can easily access device menus and manage and display content through the newly redesigned Wheel Key Remote control and the HDTV’s sophisticated content management interface. There’s the TV and digital video recorder in your family room. (And another set in your bedroom.) You have a PC and digital printer in your office, along with a network attached storage device. And you’ve copied all your music onto your portable music player and haven’t had to open a CD case for years. But getting them to talk to each other can be pretty tough. Why is it still so difficult to send digital content from one device to another? Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a collaboration of the world’s leading consumer electronics, PC and mobile companies that has created design guidelines for a new generation of products that can work together — no matter the brand. Think for a moment about all of the photos "locked away" on your home PC that you wish you could access while entertaining your friends and family. Now, thanks to DLNA enabled devices, a DLNA-enabled PC can be accessed from the comfort of your living room or family room via a DLNA-enabled HDTV, where you can enjoy your memories with friends and family, without having to deal with the hassle and non-intuitive "PCexperience". Or, say you recently downloaded your daughter’s birthday party video from your digital camcorder to your PC. Now you want to share it with your parents who are visiting. Without DLNA, you probably have to burn a DVD of the video or hook up the camcorder to the TV. With DLNA, you can just use your TV’s remote to call up the video on your TV. That’s it. Super Patterned Vertical Alignment Samsung’s Super Patterned Vertical Alignment (SPVA) panel provides a 178-degree viewing angle from all four axes Audio Features TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels. High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the two hidden, downward-firing side-mounted 2.2-channel dome speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass. TruSurround XT audio also adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience. Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper. TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself. The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system. Stereo broadcast reception is offered for MTS and SAP with 181-channel capacity. A sound leveler keeps audio volume consistent during channel changing. Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room? With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Bought in June of 08 loved it until recently when it started having problems coming on. First it took a minute now days later it takes 15 minutes to come on. According to the Internet this is a very common problem and soon mine will not come on at all. You need to replace the Power supply and possible Mother board and that's big money. So no more Samsung for me. Sony here I come.

I really like the picture that this set gives. It looks amazing with HD cable and with PS3 games and Blu Ray.

For the price Amazon beats a lot of other places to buy this TV. It's a great buy for the quality of picture and size of the TV.

Where the TV flaws come in are the base/stand that the TV is on. It really is just not wide enough to fully support the TV. This causes the TV to lean from side to side and it general feels weak for such a heavy TV.

However the major flaw on this set, is the random power shut off. The firmware update through Samsung's website might fix this problem; however I believe that it is caused by some electrical shutoff switches which I think can only be repaired by putting in a new part. I am currently researching this on my set.

I recommend searching Google for this models product key and random shut offs, before purchasing this TV.

I bought this TV last February and it came with a 1-year warranty... 14 months later this thing goes on the fritz. The power starts flicking on and off repeatedly.

I call Samsung and they are NO help; they keep telling me to go on [...] to find my nearest service agent and when I do that the 'nearest service agent is in Arizona (I'm in Illinois). Just for the fun of it I looked it up and they are over 1600 miles away. -No help.

I give up on Samsung and call a local repair guy; he comes out and changes some caps which is usually the problem, but not this time apparently. Turns out to be the T-Con board and he says that they don't sell those without the whole screen attachment and it would cost $1400 to fix (bought the TV for $1350).

I get online and found a store that sells Samsung T-Con Panels and they seem to have every other T-Con panel but mine. I googled the product number (LJ63-05707A) and it got ONE HIT. Unfortunately that one hit was a website telling me they had no matches.

After plenty of research I've discovered that this is a recurring problem with this model and Samsung simply tries to ignore or hide it. I'm going to post this everywhere I possibly can to try and get the word out.

I can't bear to throw away a $1400 TV so I guess it's going in the basement and I'll check every couple of months to see if that part comes on the market.

Oh boy, not good!!!!!!!!
Well, past few years I have been a Samsung fan of their ability to be at the forefront of new technology in viewing entertainment. Their quality control issues need to be remedied and leaves ALOT to be desired. I bought my first one online from a large and reputable seller and came to me in a box that looked descent only to find vertical lines in the picture (which samsung has a serious problem with) I sent back that one but I still wanted this tv and I was stuck on getting it. So I bought mine from Amazon here not long after they came out. Box looked good and operated fine UNTIL NOW!

Purchase date 8/20/08
No picture and just sound on 4/9/10

Wow simply wow,
This television was never disturbed since it was mounted, never dropped and used mostly with standard analog cable and some blu-ray and used in a controlled environment.

Unbelievable, I stand by Samsung still on the forefront of viewing technology BUT, and this is a big butt. They have quality issues as you will find around on the internets. This television was an investment to last and apparently Samsung doesn't last with my experience and many ppl on AV forums. Now maybe I should have got extended warranty? Should that be considered a must nowadays? With the poor components and testing that they seem to be doing?

I am looking across from my computer monitor right now at a black screen and sound. A 1,600.00 dollar sound machine.

I am thinking there is better fish in the water elsewhere, all done with sammy.

You may also want to consider Panasonic flat screen televisions. The TV has incredible picture quality. This is a plasma TV. Some people are concerned about the glare issues that are present on some plasma flat screen TVs for sale. However, on this model, as well as several other Panasonic models, there is a have an anti-reflective screen that is extremely effective against the glare issues that surround plasma screens. The TV looks great and was pretty easy to set up.

Great upgrade from a 50" with questionable quality
I wanted to upgrade from a 50" 4 year old plasma. Already own a 42" Panasonic and am very impressed with the picture quality and build. When the 54G10 arrived I was surprised how cheap it looks and feels. The picture is very good and clear a little difficult to get the color adjusted but overall one of the best. The sound is very week but add a surround sound and you will not have a problem.

Since the online company I purchased from uses Amazon for check out I thought I should post a review. I am disappointed with Electronic Expo, I did purchase one that was a demo unit. The customer service rep assured me the screen was not scratch and should be in excellent shape, it is scratched and has image burn in. I didn't factor that into the units review but the online dealer would get one star. Best advise buyer beware of buying used products not from Amazon.

Delivery was exceptional the delivery company brought it in the door and help with inspection.

I obsessed for months about whether to buy the Panasonic P54G10 (Plasma) or the Samsung LN52B750 (LCD)--in the end I purchased both, but returned the Panasonic. Read further to know why.

I originally purchased the Samsung from Amazon and was very impressed with the picture quality (very sharp) but was disappointed that despite the fact that the set was 240hz, motion blur was still visible and motion was subject to certain judder problems (resulting from the AutoMotion Plus software). See [...] for my video of the judder problems.

As a result, I bought the Panasonic P54G10 from Sears. For 2 weeks I had the Samsung and the Panasonic sitting next to each other as I adjusted every setting possible to determine which television was better. The result--I kept the Samsung LCD and returned the Panasonic Plasma. While I wanted to keep the Panasonic (because of the Samsung motion problems and reliability issues), no matter what I did to the settings, the Samsung was clearer and sharper. The picture is hands down, simply better than the Panasonic. I decided that I'd rather live with the motion problems than a picture that wasn't as sharp as it could be.

I'm posting this review so that everyone knows that while the Panasonic is a great set, the picture quality is not as perfect as everyone says. There is better out there.

What is going on in Japan
I bought this set to replace a Sony rear projection LCD. The LCD was giving up the ghost and screen slowly turning all blue from the bottom up. I bought the TV when it first came out and paid almost $2k for it. Well I bought this set to replace it and now find out they have a built in problem and the picture is intentionally lowered black levels over time, for longevity I understand. Mine looks great as I write this but feel like I've been taken advantage of and Panasonic was not transparent with this product, if this is the case. Hopefully they don't walk away from the problem like Sony ALWAYS does, they sell nothing but JUNK and bottom line is all they care about. In light of all the Toyota/Lexus problems one has to ask themselves if the Japanese have also become so profit driven they've lost sight of what made them the quality standard in so many product areas. If Panasonic reps read this I hope you rise to the occasion and make it right with those of us who trusted you like Toyota is attempting to do now. I'll update this as time goes on and pray it ends up a good experience as I'm retired and can not afford additional expense.

*****I'm having the problem this is highly publicized black level/contrast intentionally programmed in these sets.
At this writing I haven't contacted Panasonic, hopefully they make this right...... I'll keep posting and adjust my review accordingly.

After doing much research and finally pulling the trigger and buying Panasonic's V10 plasma model, I was shocked to recently find many widespread reputable reports that black levels on Panasonic 2008 and 2009 model plasmas may double or in some cases triple after approximately 1000 hours of use.

At this point I can only wish I had found this information before I made my purchase, so I'm passing it on to anyone else who may be considering any of these models.

My V10 picture is fantastic at the moment, but I can only wait in fear that I may have spent $2K dollars on something that will lose one of it's best qualities after only months of normal use.

[...]

Good Luck!!!!
